Flights

Book your flight into the Dublin Airport in Dublin (DUB), arriving Tuesday, August 13 before 10:00 am (in time for our welcome tour of Dublin) and departing Tuesday, August 20, 2024 after 2:00 pm (after our farewell brunch).

If you’re adventurous and have some time, feel free to arrive in Dublin early or stay late! We’ll be happy to help you plan an extended stay for your added enjoyment.

The Schedule

The 7-day/8-night writing retreat includes 17 1.5-hour writing blocks (with an option 2 additional blocks), breakfast each morning (except excursion day), lunch and dinner for each full writing day, daily morning accountability and evening debrief sessions, and easy access to miles of hiking trails straight from your room.

Workshops & Professional Development

The 7-day/8-night writing retreat includes 2 research communication workshops led by a research communication professional, 2-1:1 writing coaching & edition sessions with an Academic Editor & Writing Coach, a yoga class led by a trained yoga instructor, a cooking class led by a chef, and a guided nature tour led by a PhD-trained geologist.

Communication Workshops

Your retreat host will lead two professional development workshops on research & public communication. Session 1 will cover public writing & research communication. Session 2 will on advocating for ourselves through professional brand development.

1:1 Editing & Coaching

Each scholar will work 1:1 with the retreat host, a trained Academic Editor & Writing Coach. We will hold (2) 1-hour 1:1 session: 1 virtual session prior to the retreat to talk about your specific writing goals and desired outcomes, and; 1 in-person session during the retreat to review your progress and talk through the document. Each scholar will receive a tracked document with edits, suggestions, and notes.

Creative Workshops

Yoga Class: Pure Yoga class is a hatha yoga class consisting of breathwork, asana (physical poses) and meditation. The class lasts 1 hour and is suitable for all levels. The class is a great blend of stress relief, physical activity and relaxation. Cooking Class: Dive into a hands-on Irish cooking class during our September retreat. Explore vibrant gardens, forage in the woodlands for seasonal treasures. and learn essential techniques for crafting a delicious seasonal feast using the freshest ingredients nature offers.

Guided Nature Walk

Explore Wicklow National Park on a guided exploration of Glendalough'. Led by a PhD-trained geologist, explore the woodlands and learn about the park's fascinating geological history. We'll talk about about the intricate details of mosses, flora, and lichens. Take some time to journal in nature. This gentle 4-hour hike (8km) caters to all experience levels and offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature's tranquility.

The tuition for Write From Anywhere is $5,899, which includes: a private bedroom and en-suite bathroom for 7-nights, most meals, water, tea, and coffee, excursions, workshops and creative classes. We offer payment plans. There is also an early bird discount, so be sure to subscribe to our newsletter to access the discount. There also may be an opportunity to reduce costs with room sharing. 

Write From Anywhere a women’s writing retreat. It is intimate, with no more than six women scholars (plus me!). Scholars are goal-oriented, focused on meeting their writing goals while also having a little fun. Scholars may include professors, independent researchers, knowledge-producing entrepreneurs & scholarpreneurs, research lab leaders, or scholars from adjacent knowledge production fields such as think tanks. The vetting process will be exhausted to the best of the hosts’ abilities.

Absolutely, our chef can cater to a variety of dietary needs. Please inform us of your preferences and restrictions in advance so that we can ensure your culinary satisfaction.

The cancellation policy for Write From Anywhere varies depending on the timing of the cancellation. The deposit is non-refundable, no exceptions. Please refer to our terms and conditions for specific details.

We strive to make the retreat as accessible as possible and can make accommodations for attendees with special needs. Please let us know your specific requirements in advance.

We provide reliable internet access across the retreat grounds. Additionally, there are dedicated workspaces in your room and around the retreat grounds to ensure a conducive environment for research and writing. There is communal writing spaces.  

Attendees are responsible for their flight to and from Dublin, Ireland. Our retreat package includes airport transfer to and from Dublin Airport. Visa requirements depend on your nationality; please check with your local embassy.

We will host a pre-planning call where we will discuss logistics, expectations, and preparation. You will also receive planning and packing guides so you can travel in ease. We will have a private WhatsApp group for direct communication. Alicia, our retreat host, will be available to answer questions before, during, and after the trip! 

We would not be doing our jobs if there weren’t excursions, experiences, and cultural immersion! We will organize group outings to immerse attendees in the local culture and history of Dublin and Ireland, offering a well-rounded experience. 😊

We prioritize the safety and health of our attendees. We have implemented appropriate health protocols and contingency plans in line with local guidelines. Our accommodations have security measures in place, and our chef will go above and beyond health standards to ensure your meals and beverages are above standards. Be sure to check with your government’s travel recommendations before deciding to attend the retreat. 

Yes, Wicklow is safe. That being said, use common-sense guidelines to follow, just as you would traveling anywhere.

We will give you all the information you need during our  pre-trip planning call – such as bringing a refillable water bottle for filtered water, using a waist pack, and leaving your valuables at home.

Not only can you stay longer, YOU SHOULD STAY LONGER! The Republic of Ireland is a small country with a rich history and a gorgeous landscape. Alicia, our retreat host, can help you plan your extended stay by offering loads of dining, accommodation, and excursion options (additional fee may apply). We are also happy to help you plan trips to other parts of the country and island. Invite your partners, friends, or family to join you before or after the retreat for an adventure like no other. 

Write From Anywhere will include two professional development workshops sure to inspire your writing and spark inspiration. The workshops will focus on 1) research communication, and 2) advocating for ourselves.

We will also participate in a chef-led cooking class, and a foraging excursion where we will learn more about locally grown provisions.
